Kirsten will graduate from Southwestern College this spring with a degree in Elementary Education and a minor in youth ministry.  She has been a student teacher in second and fourth grade classrooms.  She has also served as a Youth Intern at First United Methodist Church in Winfield, Kansas.  Kirsten will be starting in her position with AUMC in early August, after completing a commitment to serve on the summer staff for Camp Horizon, something she has done for the past three years.

Kirsten is originally from Halstead, Kansas, where she actively participated in the United Methodist Church there with the youth group.  She participated in a wide variety of sports as she was growing up and received a softball scholarship for Southwestern College.  Kirsten has been on five mission trips to various parts of the U.S. between 2014 and 2018, and another to Belize in 2019.

Kirsten is excited about coming to AUMC and is particularly passionate about working with youth.  She shared this during the application process:  “I fully believe in the power of youth and the fact that God is actively calling them to further His kingdom as Christians and part of the body of Christ.  Our youth have the power to change the world and give all the glory to our Father in Heaven.” 

Rev. Lynn Lamberty, the Pastor of AUMC is looking forward to Kirsten’s arrival.  “I believe she will bring great joy and enthusiasm to our children and youth programs.  She is dedicated to building deep relationships with young people and communicating well with the entire church.  I expect that she will fit in well with our dreams of reaching more children, youth and young families in the Augusta area.”
