Communion - The great thanksgiving ii
Pastor: The Lord be with you.
Congregation: And also with you
Pastor: Lift up your hearts.
Congregation: We lift them up to the Lord.
Pastor: Let us give thanks to the Lord our God.
Congregation: It is right to give our thanks and praise.
Pastor: It is a right, and a good and joyful thing, Always and everywhere to give thanks to you, Father Almighty, creator of heaven and earth. And so, with your people on earth and all the company in heaven we praise our name and join their unending hymn:
Holy, holy, holy Lord, God of power and might,
Heaven and earth are full of your glory.
Hosanna in the highest.
Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord.
Hosanna in the highest.
Holy are you, and plessed is your Son Jesus Christ.
By the baptism of his suffering, death, and resurrection you gave birth to your church, delivered us from slavery to sin and death, and made us a new covenant by water and the Spirit.
On the night to which he gave himself up for us he took bread, gave thanks to you, broke the bread, gave it to his disciples, and said:
”Take, eat; this is my body which is given for you. Do this in remembrance of me.”
When the supper was over, he took the cup, gave thanks to you, gave it to his disciples, and said:
”Drink from this, all of you this is my blood of the new covenant, poured out for you and for many for the forgiveness of sins. Do this often as you drink it, in remembrance of me.”
And so, in remembrance of these your mighty acts in Jesus Christ, we offer ourselves in praise and thanksgiving, as a holy and living sacrifice, in union with Christ’s offering for us, as we proclaim the mystery of faith.
Christ has died; Christ is risen; Christ will come again.
Pastor: Pour out your Holy Spirit on us gathered here, and on these gifts of bread and wine. Make them be for us the body and blood of Christ. that we may be for the wold the body of of Christ, redeemed by his blood.”
By your Spirit make us one with Christ, one with each other, and one in ministry to all the world, until Christ comes in final victory, and we feast at his heavenly banquet.

8:30am praise celebration
Join us for our Praise Celebration! Enter God's presence through contemporary Christian music led by our Praise Band with lyrics displayed on a screen. Experience God's message in a relaxed atmosphere that incorporates videos, dramas, visual aids, and other tools as we grow together in God's word. Feel free to clap, lift your hands in praise, kneel, and pray throughout the service. All are invited to join us for communion on the first Sunday of every month.
11am traditional worship
Traditional worship at AUMC will include a greeting and opening prayer, scripture readings, a time of meditation, offering, the Lord's Prayer, a children's message, the sermon, special music and hymns, and a closing prayer. All are invited to celebrate communion with us on the first Sunday of every month.
sunday school for all ages
Children and Youth Sunday School Classes
On Sunday mornings, we offer classes for children age 2 through grade 12. Teachers work in teams and offer bible-based learning, age appropriate curriculum, and hands-on fun in all classes! Classes begin at 9:45 am.
Adult Sunday School Classes
Adult Sunday School classes are offered weekly on Sunday mornings. We cover a variety of topics, each lasting for a set number of weeks. Classes begin at 9:45 AM.
Our current, Adult Sunday School classes include:
Revive -- Young adults, some are attending college, others are venturing out into their careers, some are doing both. Meets in Revive classroom on the main level across from choir room.
NBKR--No Bible Knowledge Required -- An adult class that follows an open discussion format. This class covers both Bible-based studies and topical Christian studies. The interactive class style offers a great opportunity for open discussion and fellowship that helps us all continue to grow in our faith. Don't know the bible? No problem! We are all on a faith journey and everyone is welcome regardless of where you are in your journey. Join us as we come together to study, question and grow together in our Christian faith. Meets upstairs.
Coming Alive -- A very welcoming group of women from all walks of life. Meets on the lower level.*
Faithful Connections -- A friendly and supportive group of people with mostly grown children or grandchildren blessing their lives. A group that you feel welcomed by the moment they see you. Meets in the Parlor on the main level.*
Seekers -- A fantastic group of very faithful, mature in age people. They mainly use curriculum focusing on Books of the Bible.
Christian Forum -- An amazing group of fun loving, faithful and mature in age people who use the United Methodist curriculum throughout the year. Meets in the Chapel beside the Sanctuary.
*NBKR, Coming Alive and Faithful Connections are often focused on Christian living and use a variety of Christian media and books.
Children's Church
Kiddos Pre-K through 2nd grade are invited to Children's Church on Sunday mornings. Children are dismissed from 11am worship following the Children's Moment and escorted upstairs by a team of volunteers. It’s a great environment for kiddos to build new friendships with children their own age. Talented teachers share Bible lessons that help your children grow in their faith and love for Jesus Christ!
Please pick your child up from the upstairs classroom (RM 208) following worship.
Nursery
We are excited to have the opportunity to get to know your child.
Augusta United Methodist Church Nursery is a cooperative child-care program. Care for children age 3 and younger is provided by our nursery caregivers. During our regular worship schedule, the nursery is available from 8:00am – 12:00pm. Sunday School is provided for children 2 to 3 years old in the toddler room at 9:45a.m.
Our paid nursery staff is certified in CPR, First Aid and Boundary Awareness. Our nursery volunteers also complete the boundary awareness training. Volunteers will always be paired with a paid staff member during nursery hours.
worship ministries
Communion Servers
Members are responsible for securing and preparing the elements of communion, preparing the table, finding the servers of the elements, checking with the minister to confirm the order of service, and cleaning up after the services. The committee is also responsible for making sure the cloths used to cover the elements are clean and in good repair. The committee meets once a year to sign up for the communion services for the year. Communication throughout the year is by e-mail and telephone.
We practice "open Communion," welcoming all who love Christ, repent of their sin, and seek to live in peace with one another.
Liturgist / Liturgist Coordinator
A liturgist reads prayers, scriptures or creeds as part of the worship service Sunday mornings. A schedule is assigned for all of the people participating in this ministry. Interested persons should contact the church office.
Computer/Visual Media Ministry
The Computer/Visual Media ministry provides visual supplement to the worship service through pictures, video and words for songs and readings on the video screens. The ministry uses Easy Worship computer software for creating and presenting the service schedules for each Sunday and training is provided. If you can “point and click” and want to help out 1-2 Sundays a month during either the 8:30 or 11 a.m. service, please sign up for the Computer Media Ministry.
Sound Technicians
The sound room runs the mixing board that controls all the microphones and instruments during services and special events. This includes planning, setup, light maintenance, sound checks, working with the media technicians, assisting with hearing impaired devices and assisting in rehearsals, as needed. The sound room records the church services to compact discs for those unable to attend church. Experience running sound is helpful, however, training is offered.
Special Services
There are many special services throughout the year that need coordinated outside of the Sunday morning services. In the past, these have included Advent by Candlelight, Prayer Services, Ash Wednesday, Maundy Thursday, Good Friday and All-Saints Sunday. Assistance in planning, coordination and set-up is needed.
Ushers
Ushers greet parishioners as they enter the sanctuary, hand out bulletins and help assist in seating the congregants as needed. Ushers direct the congregation during communion and help during offering. The head usher coordinates the schedule.
